Sinner

HH01304_.WMF (15884 bytes)Many years ago in England there was a sport played by archers. The point of the game was to shoot ten arrows through a ring which was mounted on a pole. If a man missed with one of his arrows, he was termed a sinner.

PE01426_.WMF (18810 bytes)Now supposing one man missed with his first arrow. What is he? Right--a sinner! But supposing a man is able to shoot nine of his arrows through the ring, and then misses with his tenth. What is he then? PE03494_.WMF (5314 bytes)Yes, still a sinner! The fact that he got nine arrows through the ring does not qualify him for the prize. He has lost the game just as much as the one who missed with his first arrow.

This is how each of us measures up before a holy and perfectly righteous God.

For all have sinned and come short
of the glory of God.
(Romans 3:23)

We have all missed the mark of God's standard of perfection, though some might do better than others (humanly speaking). The Good News of the Gospel is that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners (1 Timothy 1:15).

Have you really seen yourself as God sees you? Have you come the Saviour of sinners and put your trust in Him?

. . . the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures. . . He was buried, and. . .  He rose again the third day according to the scriptures.  1 Corinthians 15:3-4.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,
and you will be saved.

Acts 16:31
