Free as a Bird?

cardinal.wmf (5182 bytes)A cardinal was stranded on the piece of property where it lived. The land had been cleared that day by bulldozers so that only a few stumps and roots remained. The bird flew about 400 feet, then suddenly back winged as if it had hit an invisible wall. After flopping to the earth it flew off in another direction, only to smash into another invisible barrier. The bulldozers had taken away its trees, and bushes, and grasses. Nevertheless, the boundaries of its home were still there and it could not fly through them. It was a prisoner because it was afraid of intruding into another male=s land.

snowgoos.wmf (12048 bytes)Free as a bird? Don=t you believe it. Birds as well as the entire animal kingdom are genetically programmed. They must do the things they do either by instinct or by training.

Man, on the other hand, is given free will. He can make choices though he is held captive to sin. God is the only free Being in the universe. God alone can do all that He pleases whenever He pleases. We enjoy the freedom of being persons when we are rightly related to the living God through faith in Jesus Christ the Lord. He said in John chapter eight that whoever commits sin is the slave of sin. If the Son of God shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.

ABut now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord@
Romans 6:22-23

Free from God and a slave to sin?
